It's hard to believe one week ago tomorrow we were arriving in Panama City. After bargaining with the taxi drivers using the little Spanish we knew, we arrived at our hostel around 8:30pm. Although we were told by friends how hot Panama City was you don't fully understand how intense until you arrive. We sat outside on the patio at the hostel and enjoyed a refreshing Balboa (a delicious local beer) while we planned out our next day.
See Mom...Good hostel security!

We spent the next day walking around the old town of Casco Viejo; a cobblestone neighborhood with plaza cafes and rooftop bars. Most of the town was extremely run down with some newly restored architecture which gave a sense of how the area would have looked in past years. We walked around and visited the historic plazas, churches and theaters. For lunch we stopped in at a little café for some local arroz con pollo (chicken with rice), YUM!!

Panama City was very loud, hot and a bit hectic so we were more than ready for some sand and turquoise waters. After a very squishy and erratic 2 hour jeep ride (9 people to 7 seats), we caught a boat to the beautiful San Blas Islands. The Caribbean islands are something you would see on a post card. Our days consisted of laying on the white sand beach, swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters and enjoying refreshing cerveza's.
Life is good!
